INTRODUCTION
I played the game from the age of six (6) to twenty-one (21) years of age. Due to my youth and arrogance, I blew out my arm during a Minor League game in my 1st year in the Minors. The ulnar collateral ligament and articular cartilage in my right arm was torn. Due to the damage to the articular cartilage, my playing career was over. This led to a passion in learning about my injury and how one can reduce the risk of injury. It is my desire to prevent players in making the same the mistakes I did.
After my brief career, I started my coaching career as a Volunteer Assistant Pitching Coach at UNM. After one season with UNM, I started managing Junior Varsity Teams at the High School Level. I preferred coaching at the J.V. level due to the ability to teach and develop young players. I found at this level, the players were eager to learn the fundamentals and the proper mechanics of pitching and hitting. I had the privilege of coaching some very talented teams which helped me achieve a 111-34 record at the High School Level.
In 1998, I started conducting personal training and instruction to a select group of players that showed the commitment, discipline, attitude and pride to execute my training program and a desire to reach their maximum potential. Since then, I have provided personal training and instruction to several players that have gone on to play in NCAA Division I and Division II Schools, Independent League, Minor and Major Leagues. I continue to provide personal training with emphasis on biomechanics and the mental approach. During my years of training and instruction, a player under my program has never suffered an injury.
In the following pages, I will be sharing some of the exercises that are incorporated into my training program. I will also be sharing the “key points” of hitting and pitching mechanics used in my instructional program. I hope you find the information contained within this website to be functional. The information contained within this website was obtained through my personal research and experience in training players from Little League to the Major Leagues. It is my commitment to teach the correct physical and mental approach that has prepared and continues to prepare my students for success, on and off the field.
